Today I’m finishing up teaching another interim class on writing and publishing. It’s always a great experience sharing thoughts and experiences on the writing journey. Here are ten basic things I constantly “preach” when it comes to writing and publishing:
#1. Write the story you’re dying to write.
#2. Put in your fears and curiosities and interests.
#3. Finish it.
#4. Fit it into a box for the publishing world.
#5. Try and make that box as unique and memorable as it can be.
#6. Develop thick skin and be patient.
#7. Persistence is essential.
#8. Start another project as you wait.
#9. Don’t give up.
#10. Remember to write because you love to write. And because you have to.
Now that's a quick list! But i agree that they're all important things to consider about writing and publishing. Persistence is also a major key since it drives you to always finish what you've started no matter how difficult it may be.
